de Havilland DH.110 Sea Vixen Mk.20X XF828, the semi-navalised prototype with arrestor hook and long-stroke undercarriage oleos. First flown at Christchurch on 20 June 1955, XF828 made the first arrested landing on HMS Ark Royal on 5 April 1956. After completing flight trials XF828 was relegated to ground training at the School of Aircraft Handling, RNAS Culdrose, as A2500 on 28 November 1960, ending its days on the fire dump, where it had perished by 1978. Production Sea Vixens remained in Fleet Air Arm service until 1972.I - Photograph date ca1956. Date: circa 1956
