This striking photograph captures the North American T-28B N132Z (msn 200-8) of the United States Forestry Service in flight. The T-28B is a military variant of the North American T-28 Trojan trainer aircraft, which was originally designed and produced by North American Aviation for the United States Navy in the late 1940s and 1950s. This particular T-28B, registered as N132Z, was later transferred to the Forestry Service and assigned to the Bureau of Land Management Aviation (BLM Aero) for use in firefighting and other support missions. The T-28B is a versatile and powerful aircraft, with a top speed of over 300 miles per hour and a range of over 1,000 miles. It is equipped with a Pratt & Whitney R-2800-5WA engine, which provides 2,000 horsepower and enables the aircraft to carry a variety of payloads, including water bombs, pesticides, and other equipment.
