EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photograph, the Sud-Aviation SE.3130 Alouette II helicopter F-BHOF (msn 1012) takes center stage at Paris-Le Bourget Airport, with the historic Boeing 307 Stratoliner F-BELY (msn2001) of Airnautic serving as a striking backdrop. The Alouette II, a versatile and iconic rotorcraft, was manufactured by Sud-Aviation, a French aerospace company, and first flew in 1955. This particular Alouette II, F-BHOF, was produced in 1957 and has an intriguing history of its own. Meanwhile, the Boeing 307 Stratoliner F-BELY (msn2001) in the background is a testament to aviation history. Originally registered as NC19908 with Transcontinental & Western Air in the United States in 1940, it was later acquired by the US Army Air Force as a C-37 transport aircraft in 1942. Post-demobilization, it returned to Transcontinental & Western Air as an SA-307B-1 and was later operated by Aigle Azur, Aigle Azur Indochine, and AirnauticXW-PGR. The aircraft was written off in the early 1960s. This photograph offers a unique blend of aviation history, with the modern and agile Alouette II standing next to the classic and historic Boeing 307 Stratoliner. Both aircraft represent significant milestones in their respective eras, showcasing the evolution of aviation technology and design.
