EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases the Tallman-Pfalz D.XII N43C, an original German Fokker D.XII aircraft with the manufacturing serial number 1511/18. Believed to have been produced in 1918, this historic plane was transported to the United States following the signing of the Armistice in 1918. After its arrival in America, the D.XII underwent a meticulous restoration process in the hands of aviation enthusiast and pilot, Frank Tallman, during the 1950s. The Tallman-Pfalz D.XII N43C is depicted in this image during a flight test, likely around 1957. The D.XII, a two-seat, biplane fighter, was originally designed and manufactured by Fokker in the Netherlands between 1917 and 1918. Known for its agility and maneuverability, the D.XII served in the German military during World War I. Post-war, the plane found its way to the United States, where it became a cherished piece of aviation history. Frank Tallman, an accomplished pilot and aviation historian, acquired the D.XII and dedicated countless hours to restoring it to its former glory. The result was a stunning, airworthy aircraft that paid homage to the rich history of early aviation. This photograph captures the essence of a bygone era, showcasing the Tallman-Pfalz D.XII N43C in its element – soaring through the sky, a testament to the ingenuity and passion of those who brought it back to life.
