EDITORS COMMENTS
This photograph showcases the United States Air Force's (USAF) Convair VC-131H Samaritan with the serial number 54-2815 (msn 217), also known as "N8448H" during its brief civil registry period. Delivered to the USAF as a VC-131D on December 10, 1954, this aircraft was later converted to the VC-131H model, featuring Allison 501 turboprop engines, and was transferred to the United States Navy in April 1979 while retaining its USAF serial number. After its military service, the Convair VC-131H found its way to Peru, where it became part of the Peruvian Police fleet, carrying the registration PNP-025. The aircraft later resurfaced on the civil market, first as N7146X, then N723ES. It was eventually sold to a Canadian owner in November 2007, and registered with the Ministry of the Environment, Province of Saskatchewan, as C-GSKQ. This image captures the Convair VC-131H in its 1960s glory, showcasing the aircraft's distinctive design and powerful turboprop engines. The era of the 1960s, often referred to as the "Swinging Sixties," was a time of significant advancements in aviation technology, and this Convair Samaritan represents a fascinating piece of that history. With its rich military and civilian history, this aircraft continues to be an intriguing subject for aviation enthusiasts and historians alike.
