Sebastiano del Piombo, also known as Sebastiano Luciano (1485-1547), was an Italian Mannerist painter of the High Renaissance period. This stunning portrait depicts one of the most influential figures of the Italian Navy and Genoese military and political leader, Andrea Doria. Painted in oil on canvas, the portrait showcases the mastery of Sebastiano del Piombo's technique and his ability to capture the essence of his subject. Andrea Doria, born in 1466, rose to prominence as a naval commander in the service of the Republic of Genoa.
