Fairy Sleeping Tale

EDITORS COMMENTS
Once upon a time in a far-off land, there lived a beautiful princess named Aurora. Adored by all, her radiant beauty was unmatched, and her laughter was as enchanting as the melodies of birds in full bloom. However, an evil fairy named Maleficent, filled with jealousy and anger, cast a wicked spell on the innocent princess. On her sixteenth birthday, Aurora would prick her finger on a spinning wheel and fall into a deep sleep, from which she could only be awakened by the kiss of true love's first kiss. The news of the curse spread throughout the kingdom, and the people were filled with despair. But fear not, for the benevolent fairies of the land banded together to protect the sleeping beauty. They placed Aurora under a protective enchantment, removing her from the reach of Maleficent's curse. Time passed, and the years went by. The once-vibrant kingdom was now shrouded in sadness, and the people longed for the day when their beloved princess would awaken. One day, a brave and kind prince, named Philip, heard the tale of Sleeping Beauty and was determined to break the spell. He journeyed to the hidden castle where Aurora slept, braving many dangers along the way. Upon reaching the castle, he found the beautiful princess, her face as peaceful as ever. With a heavy heart, he leaned in and placed a tender kiss upon her lips. The spell was broken, and Aurora awoke, her eyes opening to the sight of her true love. Their love was strong, and they were soon married in a grand celebration that brought joy back to the kingdom. This enchanting illustration from the 1956 Playhour book, 'The Story of Sleeping Beauty,' captures the essence of this classic fairy tale. The sleeping beauty, with her serene expression and the gentle touch of the prince, tells a timeless story of love, hope, and the power of good triumphing over evil.
