This historical print captures the survivors of the tragic sinking of the Empress of Ireland in June 1914. Among those pictured are Mr. Edward Bamford, junior wireless operator on board the ship, and Mr. Rowland Ferguson, senior wireless operator. Also included are The Rev J. Wallet from Westcliff-On-Sea, Mr. J W Langley, a rancher from British Columbia, and Miss Gracie Hannagan, daughter of Bandmaster Hannagan from Toronto. The group also includes Mr. J D White, seventh engineer on the Empress of Ireland, Mr. J Fergus Duncan from Messrs Kimber Bull and Duncan Solicitors in Old Jewry, and Mr. J Grant, electrician on board the ill-fated vessel.
