November 11, 1918: The Trumpet Call That Ended the War to End All Wars In the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of 1918, the long-awaited end to the First World War finally came. The signing of the Armistice of Compiègne marked the cessation of hostilities between the Allied Powers and Germany, bringing an end to four long years of devastating conflict.
