Here Comes the bride... looking swell. The current trends in bridal fashions appear to be

Here Comes the bride... looking swell. The current trends in bridal fashions appear to be catering for the pregnant bride. At most of the recent fashion shows, wedding dresses described as Empire line, or simply smocks, have been included. The main feature of both these styles is the flowing skirt that falls free from a high-rise bodice. Much can be hidden beneath a non-existent waistband... You don t, of course, have to be pregnant to look lovely in one of these dresses. But the statistic produced by the Family Planning Association that six out of ten brides under twenty are pregnant on their wedding day is obviously having some influence. An apron-fronted Dacron and cotton wedding dress by Angela Gore. It can be bought or hired from Moss Bross. The pillbox hat with veil attached is by Edward Mann. April 1974

EDITORS COMMENTS
Here Comes the bride. . . looking swell. The current trends in bridal fashions appear to be catering for the pregnant bride. At most of the recent fashion shows, wedding dresses described as Empire line, or simply smocks, have been included. The main feature of both these styles is the flowing skirt that falls free from a high-rise bodice. Much can be hidden beneath a non-existent waistband. . . You don't, of course, have to be pregnant to look lovely in one of these dresses. But the statistic produced by the Family Planning Association that six out of ten brides under twenty are pregnant on their wedding day is obviously having some influence. In this print from April 1974, we witness a beautiful moment captured at a church ceremony. A radiant bride adorned in an apron-fronted Dacron and cotton wedding dress designed by Angela Gore steals everyone's attention with her elegance and grace. The pillbox hat with an attached veil by Edward Mann adds an exquisite touch to her ensemble as she walks down the aisle accompanied by a reverend and surrounded by loved ones holding bouquets filled with joy and anticipation. This image not only showcases evolving fashion trends but also reflects societal changes during that era when pregnancy before marriage became more prevalent among young brides-to-be. Whether expecting or not, every woman deserves to feel stunning on her special day, and this photograph serves as a timeless reminder that beauty knows no boundaries.
