His Masters Boot. Only one man can fill these shoes

His Masters Boot. Only one man can fill these shoes. And thats the man Bootsie is waiting for - his missing master. Meanwhile, the two-year-old mongrel guards the shoes with his life. Bootsie was found alone with the shoes at Charing Cross station in London on Tuesday (5-10-76). It was the middle of the morning rush-hour and the rail terminus was filled with hurrying commuters. But whenever anyone put a foot near the leather slip-ons, Bootsie barked furiously. When police tried to catch him, he bolted with the shoes in his mouth. Eventually, though, he was captured and taken - still grimly holding the shoes - to the dogs home at Battersea. There he sat patiently on Tuesday night. Not eating. Not playing. Just guarding. " No one could guard the Crown Jewels any better, " said a spokesman at the home. " His loyalty to his master is unbelievable. We only hope its justified. If he isn t claimed or give a new home in seven days, he ll have to be destroyed. And that would be a pity." October 1976 P006173. © Mirrorpix

EDITORS COMMENTS

In this heartwarming print titled "His Masters Boot" we witness the unwavering loyalty and devotion of a two-year-old mongrel named Bootsie. Found alone with a pair of shoes at Charing Cross station in London, Bootsie immediately took it upon himself to guard these cherished possessions as if his life depended on it. Amidst the chaos of the morning rush-hour, whenever anyone approached the leather slip-ons, Bootsie would bark furiously, determined to protect them from any potential harm. Even when the police attempted to catch him, he fled with the shoes clutched tightly in his mouth. Eventually captured and taken to Battersea's dogs home that same evening, Bootsie continued his steadfast vigilance without eating or playing. The staff marveled at his unwavering commitment to his missing master. "No one could guard the Crown Jewels any better" remarked a spokesperson from the home. However, time was running out for Bootsie. If not claimed or given a new home within seven days, he faced an unfortunate fate – destruction – which everyone agreed would be a great loss considering his remarkable loyalty. As we gaze upon this poignant image captured in October 1976 by Mirrorpix from Memory Lane Prints, we are reminded of the profound bond between humans and their faithful companions.
