"Snowdrop"has made her first appearance since she was born at Christmas

" Snowdrop" has made her first appearance since she was born at Christmas, perhaps she was waiting for the warm weather, or is it that these Wallabies are strange creatures who slip into their Mothers pouch minutes after birth and just stay there out of sight for months. Snowdrop is something of an oddity at the Flamingo Zoo, Nr. Olney, Bucks. for she has a normal brown coloured mother and a White father. It is the first time that the two different colours have mixed. " Perhaps the next baby will have spots on", said Christopher Marler, who owns the Zoo. May 1978

EDITORS COMMENTS
Snowdrop, the enchanting wallaby, has finally emerged from her mother's pouch at Flamingo Zoo in Nr. Olney, Bucks. This adorable little creature made her grand debut since being born on Christmas day. It seems she was either waiting for the warm weather or following the peculiar habits of wallabies who prefer to remain hidden in their mothers' pouches for months after birth. What makes Snowdrop truly unique is her striking appearance. While her mother boasts a typical brown coat, Snowdrop inherited a rare genetic trait from her white father, resulting in an extraordinary blend of colors never seen before at the zoo. Visitors are captivated by this beautiful oddity and eagerly await what surprises future generations may bring. Christopher Marler, proud owner of Flamingo Zoo, speculates that perhaps Snowdrop's siblings will inherit spots or other fascinating patterns as they continue to push boundaries and defy expectations. This heartwarming photograph captures Snowdrop exploring her surroundings with curiosity and innocence. The image transports us back to May 1978 when this delightful moment was frozen in time—a testament to the wonders of nature and our enduring fascination with its diversity. Preserved by Mirrorpix's Memory Lane Prints collection, this snapshot allows us to relish in the joyous arrival of Snowdrop while appreciating how far we have come since those nostalgic days of the late 20th century.
