Youngsters at a Coventry school have joined forces to turn cans into cash

Youngsters at a Coventry school have joined forces to turn cans into cash and tidy the environment. the 11-year-olds and 12-year-olds at Keresley Newlands combined school are collecting used drinks cans as part of a mini enterprise scheme. They hope it will help them learn business and raise cash for charity. Form teacher Graham Pemberton said 16 pupils in his class had split into groups with responsibility for different parts of the operation. He said: " The publicity crew have been dressing up in big cans and going round to classes reminding people to bring their cans in. " The children have been ever so enthusiastic. Originally they were just going to bring in their own used cans but they decided to go out and collect from the streets. " It went down very well with some people living round here." The youngsters have collected almost 1, 000 cans in three weeks.
