Residents in a block of luxury flats overlooking the Pump Room Gardens, Leamington

Residents in a block of luxury flats overlooking the Pump Room Gardens, Leamington, are angry about the " appalling" noise from a pop concert held in the park on Saturday. People living in Manor Court Flats claim the were driven from their homes by the sound of the music. The show was organised by LAGA - Leamington Area Group Action - to raise money for a bus for the towns elderly and deprived children. Organisers had hoped for an audience of up to 2, 000 but in fact only about 250 turned up for an afternoon of disco records and live music from two groups. They also had to cut down the amount of live music played and the final programme featured only Sundance and Burlesque - a group who called in on their way back from that more controversial event, the Windsor Festival. Chris Day, the organiser, blamed the bad turn-out on lack of publicity. " theres been a happy atmosphere - but financially things haven t gone so well. We shall just about break even, " he said.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Residents in Manor Court Flats, Leamington, express their frustration and anger over the 'appalling' noise from a pop concert held in Pump Room Gardens. The luxury flat dwellers claim that they were forced to leave their homes due to the overwhelming sound of music. The event was organized by LAGA - Leamington Area Group Action - with the noble intention of raising funds for a bus benefiting elderly and deprived children in town. Despite hopes of attracting an audience of up to 2,000 people, only around 250 attendees showed up for an afternoon filled with disco records and live performances from Sundance and Burlesque. Due to the low turnout, organizers had no choice but to reduce the amount of live music played during the event. Chris Day, the organizer, attributed this disappointment to a lack of publicity. While there was initially a happy atmosphere surrounding the concert, financially it did not fare as well as expected. Day expressed his concerns about breaking even on expenses incurred during planning. This print captured by Brian Walkeden on August 31st, 1974 showcases Manor Court Flats overlooking Pump Room Gardens; however, it does not depict any commercial use or involvement.
