Holy Trinity Church, Market Place, Richmond. For nearly a century The Green Howards has had Richmond as its permanent home and in 1970 it was in talks to use this church for its regimental headquarters and museum. The Church had been declared surplus to diocesan requirements. It now contains the small Chapel of Holy Trinity which is still in use and the bulk of the building houses the Green Howard Regimental Museum. 25th November 1970

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures the majestic Holy Trinity Church, standing proudly in Market Place, Richmond. For almost a century, this iconic church has served as the permanent home of The Green Howards regiment. In 1970, discussions were underway to transform this historic place of worship into the regimental headquarters and museum for The Green Howards. At that time, the church had been deemed surplus to diocesan requirements. Today, within its hallowed walls, one can find the intimate Chapel of Holy Trinity still in use for religious services while most of the building now houses The Green Howard Regimental Museum. This transformation has allowed visitors to immerse themselves in the rich history and heritage of this esteemed military unit. The photograph itself offers a glimpse into both past and present. It showcases not only the timeless beauty of 14th-century architecture but also provides a snapshot of 1970s transportation with cars lining up along Market Place. A symbol of Christian faith and devotion amidst an ever-changing world, Holy Trinity Church stands tall as a testament to religion's enduring presence in society. Preserved through Memory Lane Prints' meticulous attention to detail, this image serves as a reminder that buildings hold stories within their walls – stories that shape communities and honor traditions spanning centuries.
