EDITORS COMMENTS
In this nostalgic print titled "Getting to the root of the problem" we see a group of determined 11-year-olds from Netherthong Junior and Infants School. From left to right, their names are Steven Baines, Craig Walton, Daniel Bray, Andrew Wilson, and William Beaumont. These young adventurers have taken on the task of developing a nature trail around their school by pulling out undergrowth. With smiles on their faces and tools in hand, these boys embody the joy of childhood exploration and education. Their gardening project not only brings happiness but also teaches them valuable lessons about teamwork, perseverance, and environmental stewardship. The significance of this endeavor is further highlighted by the financial support received from Holme Valley Parish Council - a generous boost of £50 that will help make their vision come true. This 12-month project holds great promise as it aims to participate in a national award commemorating the 40th anniversary of Queen Elizabeth II's coronation. Capturing an essence of innocence and enthusiasm for learning through playtime activities like gardening, this photograph transports us back to the vibrant spirit of the 1990s. It serves as a heartwarming reminder that even small initiatives can have far-reaching impacts when nurtured with passion and community support. This Memory Lane Print offers us an inspiring glimpse into these children's lives while reminding us all that investing in our youth today paves the way for brighter tomorrows filled with growth and harmony.
