EDITORS COMMENTS
A Memorable Exchange: A group of enthusiastic pupils from Germany embarked on an unforgettable journey to Almondbury High School as part of a thrilling exchange visit. The vibrant party, consisting of 15 students aged between 13 and 15 from Siegen, arrived last year with excitement in their eyes. Welcoming them with open arms was Kirklees Mayor Clr Colin Watson, who extended a warm civic reception to the young visitors. As a token of appreciation and friendship, the German group was presented with a beautifully framed copy of the Kirklees coat of arms. Captured in this timeless print is Teacher Mrs Dorle Hoening at the center, proudly holding the coat of arms alongside some members of the German delegation. Standing beside them is Almondbury High School's brand new mini-bus, which made its inaugural appearance during this remarkable trip. This snapshot from May 2nd, 1990 takes us back to an era filled with educational adventures and cultural exchanges. It reminds us that through such initiatives we build bridges across borders and foster global understanding among our future leaders. Preserved by Memory Lane Prints for all to cherish, this image encapsulates not only cherished memories but also highlights the importance of international connections in shaping young minds.
