At a recent Exhibition at Bristol, there was shown a cut-out wooden toy dog. He is called " Wallop" and is the idea of Mr. S.R. Gage, Managing Director of a Bristol Engineering firm. Arthur Ferrier drew the design for the toy using Mr. Gages cairn terrier as a model. The name " Wallop" was given to the toy by some R.A.F. men. Mr. Gage hopes to produce 15, 000 " Wallops" a week. 20th September 1945

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print takes us back to a time when creativity and innovation were at the forefront. At a recent Exhibition in Bristol, an extraordinary cut-out wooden toy dog named "Wallop" stole the show. The mastermind behind this charming creation is none other than Mr. S. R. Gage, the Managing Director of a prominent Bristol Engineering firm. To bring Wallop to life, Arthur Ferrier skillfully drew the design for this delightful toy using Mr. Gage's own cairn terrier as inspiration. The attention to detail is evident in every stroke of Ferrier's pencil, capturing the essence of this lovable breed. Interestingly enough, it was some R. A. F men who bestowed upon this endearing wooden companion its unique name - Wallop. Perhaps they saw in him a playful spirit that resonated with their own experiences. Mr. Gage has ambitious plans for his creation, aiming to produce an impressive 15,000 Wallops each week! This speaks volumes about his confidence in both the appeal and quality of his innovative toy. As we gaze upon this snapshot from September 20th, 1945, we can't help but appreciate how such simple pleasures brought joy during challenging times like those faced after World War II. It serves as a reminder that even amidst adversity, human ingenuity continues to flourish – creating timeless treasures like Wallop that transcend generations and warm hearts with their nostalgic charm.
