EDITORS COMMENTS
All hands into the lucky dip! In this nostalgic photo print, we see a group of excited children trying their luck at a birthday bazaar organized for the 21st anniversary of St James's Playgroup in Marsh. The event, held at St James's Parish Hall, was a delightful celebration filled with laughter and joy. From left to right, we have Ruth McGuigan, Claire Grundy, Lisa Cotton, and Robert Blaker eagerly reaching into the lucky dip. Their faces are beaming with anticipation as they hope to uncover hidden treasures within. The playgroup founder, Mrs Audrey Morton, had the honor of opening the event. To make it even more special for the children, two beloved characters made appearances - Examiner Newshound and Mr Wimpy. They distributed badges and played alongside the little ones who couldn't contain their excitement. Punch and Judy shows added an extra touch of entertainment while various stalls offered a wide range of goods for sale. It was heartwarming to witness such community support as all proceeds from this joyful occasion amounted to £300 for playgroup funds. This snapshot captures not only a moment frozen in time but also reflects on our shared memories from 'all our yesterdays. ' It reminds us of carefree childhood days filled with fun games and innocent laughter in Huddersfield, West Yorkshire during the vibrant 1980s.
