These two "jailbirds"will be making a break for freedom

These two " jailbirds" will be making a break for freedom and for charity later this month. The will join other teams taking part in a light-hearted break out from Lindholme Prison in Doncaster to raise money for the Spastics Society. Andrew Hasler, 18 (right), and Simon Milling, 17, are leaders at Outlane Methodist Association of Youth Clubs. EDITORS COMMENTS

In this photo print, we witness the mischievous spirit of youth combined with a noble cause. Andrew Hasler and Simon Milling, affectionately referred to as "jailbirds" are preparing to embark on an audacious escape from Lindholme Prison in Doncaster. However, their intentions are far from criminal; instead, they aim to break free for charity. As leaders at Outlane Methodist Association of Youth Clubs, these two young men have taken up the challenge of participating in a light-hearted breakout event to raise funds for the Spastics Society. Joined by other teams, they will strive to distance themselves as much as possible from the prison within a mere 24 hours during the weekend of September 19/20. What sets this endeavor apart is that each team can only utilize money for sustenance and not transportation expenses. This limitation adds an exciting element of resourcefulness and adventure to their journey. With hopes that generous sponsors will step forward, Andrew and Simon eagerly anticipate support for their charitable cause. This snapshot captures not just the determination etched on their faces but also encapsulates the essence of camaraderie among like-minded individuals striving towards a common goal. It serves as a reminder that even in seemingly restrictive circumstances such as imprisonment or societal challenges faced by those with disabilities (as supported by Spastics Society), unity and resilience can pave the way towards freedom and positive change. Taken on September 4th, 1987, this photograph transports us back into an era where youthful ex.
