If at first you don t succeed... thats the admirable philosophy of the pupils at Cowersley Junior and Infants School. In last years Examiner Junior Journalist competition the school won a runner up prize behind section winners, Berry Brow, and pupils who entered individually were among those awarded prizes. So the school is entering the NatWest Bank sponsored contest again this autumn hoping collectively to go one better. Pictured hard at work on this years project are (from left) Elizabeth Utley, Adam Fryszezyn, Sadia Atta, Stephen Cronie and Fay Holland from class nine. 5th October 1988

Class Classroom Journalism Newspaper Competitions

EDITORS COMMENTS
If at first you don't succeed. . . that's the admirable philosophy of the pupils at Cowersley Junior and Infants School. In last year's Examiner Junior Journalist competition, the school was awarded a runner-up prize, falling just behind section winners Berry Brow. Even more impressive, several individual entries from our talented students were also recognized with prizes. With their sights set on victory this time around, Cowersley is once again entering the NatWest Bank sponsored contest this autumn. The collective determination to go one better is palpable among these young minds. Captured in this print are Elizabeth Utley, Adam Fryszezyn, Sadia Atta, Stephen Cronie, and Fay Holland from class nine. They can be seen diligently working on their project for this year's competition. Their enthusiasm and dedication serve as an inspiration to all who witness it. This snapshot not only reflects the spirit of camaraderie within our classroom walls but also highlights the importance of fostering a love for journalism among children. It showcases their eagerness to learn and grow through creative expression. As we reminisce about this moment captured on October 5th, 1988 - during a decade defined by its vibrant energy - let us celebrate these bright young minds who embody resilience and determination in pursuit of success.
