All smiles... pupils from Woodhouse Infant and Nursery School raise a cheer for Mrs

All smiles... pupils from Woodhouse Infant and Nursery School raise a cheer for Mrs Doreen Pearson who has retired after working in the school meals service for 25 years. Mrs Pearson, of Dewhirst Road, Fartown, was employed at All Saints, Fartown High and Deighton Junior School before her eight years service at Woodhouse. She has found herself serving dinners to children whose parents she served previously. From the kitchen staff she received a vase and cut-glass posy bowl and at a special assembly the pupils presented her with a cut-glass basket. On behalf of the teaching staff, head teacher Mrs Joyce Oakley handed over a silk flower arrangement. 17th October 1986

EDITORS COMMENTS
All smiles. . . pupils from Woodhouse Infant and Nursery School raise a cheer for Mrs Doreen Pearson who has retired after working in the school meals service for 25 years. Mrs Pearson, of Dewhirst Road, Fartown, was employed at All Saints, Fartown High and Deighton Junior School before her eight years of dedicated service at Woodhouse. Her commitment to serving nutritious meals to generations of children has left an indelible mark on their lives. As she bid farewell to her beloved kitchen staff, they honored Mrs Pearson with a thoughtful gift – a beautiful vase and cut-glass posy bowl. The love and appreciation extended beyond the staff as well; during a special assembly, the pupils surprised her with a stunning cut-glass basket. Mrs Joyce Oakley, the head teacher of Woodhouse Infant and Nursery School, expressed gratitude on behalf of the teaching staff by presenting Mrs Pearson with an exquisite silk flower arrangement. It was evident that her warm presence will be greatly missed within the school community. Throughout her career, Mrs Pearson not only nourished young bodies but also touched countless hearts. She found herself serving dinners to children whose parents she had previously served—a testament to her enduring dedication. This heartwarming photograph captures the joyous celebration held in honor of Mrs Doreen Pearson's retirement—an event filled with laughter, happiness, and heartfelt gratitude.
