Member of a recently formed majorette troop are literally in the limelight after winning

Member of a recently formed majorette troop are literally in the limelight after winning a top trophy at a seaside tournament. The Paddock-based Limelights were in Bridlington for the Universal Championships, where they won a cup in the military freestyle section and were placed second overall in show majorettes. And there were awards for troop mascot Amanda Carmichael and lead Lisa Nield. Both were placed first in their classes for military freestyle and Amanda was second-placed mascot overall in show majorettes. The group, which practices at the Quaker Hall, Church Street, Paddock, has entered eight competitions since being formed only a year ago - and has come away with an award every time. Organisers are hoping that the latest seaside success will prompt sponsors to offer backing for the group next season. 10th November 1987. © Mirrorpix
