Children helped to complete a line of pennies stretching round their school playground
Children helped to complete a line of pennies stretching round their school playground. All 256 pupils of Reinwood Infant and Nursery School, Huddersfield, collected their spare coppers for a month to make the chain of pennies in aid of the Children in Need appeal. The school received £ 1, 000 from the BBS appeal last year and head teacher Mrs June Skillen said this was a way of saying thank you. 17th November 1989

On November 17th, 1989, as sunlight danced upon their faces and laughter filled the air, these children proudly completed their monumental penny chain. Each coin represented not just monetary value but also hope and solidarity for those less fortunate. The vibrant colors reflected both innocence and determination - qualities that define childhood itself. This photograph captures a moment frozen in time; it encapsulates the spirit of charity and education intertwining harmoniously within Reinwood School's walls. It is a testament to how even small contributions can create significant change when united by purpose. Decades later, this image serves as a reminder that acts of kindness transcend generations. As we look back on all our yesterdays with fondness and nostalgia, let us remember these remarkable
