South Crosland Junior School has been collecting "bug", in more ways than one
South Crosland Junior School has been collecting " bug", in more ways than one. Class two has a collection of stick insects and it just keeps on growing. " We started off with a few eggs and now we have loads", say the pupils in a letters to Stop Press. " We had so many that we let everyone who wanted them take four. Our teacher counted the people who had taken insects home and we might have 200 altogether, plus the eggs that are still hatching". Pictured with a tank full of the insects are Katy Binns, Kerry Sizer, Claire Green, Micheala Burne, Claire Langron, Emma Wilde and Gemma Drury. 2nd November 1989

South Crosland Junior School's Bug Bonanza - A Growing Collection of Stick Insects
EDITORS COMMENTS
. In the heart of Huddersfield, South Crosland Junior School has embarked on a remarkable bug-collecting adventure. Class two, led by their enthusiastic teacher, has taken up the challenge of nurturing stick insects and their efforts have paid off in abundance. What started as a humble clutch of eggs has now multiplied into an impressive swarm that seems to know no bounds. The pupils proudly exclaim, "We started off with a few eggs and now we have loads!". Their dedication and care for these fascinating creatures are evident in every word they share. To ensure these newfound friends find loving homes, the students decided to offer them to anyone willing to take them in. Astonishingly, over 200 people eagerly welcomed these captivating critters into their lives. And let's not forget about the eggs still hatching – it seems this insect family will continue to grow! Captured in this delightful print are Katy Binns, Kerry Sizer, Claire Green, Micheala Burne, Claire Langron, Emma Wilde and Gemma Drury – beaming with pride alongside their tank teeming with stick insects. This snapshot from November 2nd 1989 serves as a charming reminder of childhood curiosity and the wonders found within our natural world.
