Animals: Baby With A Big Secret.... Born - to Zebra George

Animals: Baby With A Big Secret......... Born - to Zebra George and his proud wife - a high-stepping off-spring. Sex: a mystery. Name: To be chosen when over-attentive Mum allows keepers to get near enough to solve that mystery. As the frisky foal - born at dawn - paced the paddock with its mother at Flamingo park zoo near Pickering, Yorkshire, zoo superintendent Reg Bloom said: " We want to invite suggestions from visitors for a name. But we don t know the sex and we don t look like finding out for the time being. " The foal is the first Zebra ever bred in captivity at the Zoo.

EDITORS COMMENTS
Introducing the newest addition to Flamingo Park Zoo near Pickering, Yorkshire - a baby zebra with a big secret! Born to proud parents, Zebra George and his wife, this high-stepping foal has everyone guessing its sex. The mystery only adds to the excitement surrounding this adorable creature. As dawn broke on that memorable day, the frisky foal took its first steps alongside its doting mother in the paddock. Zoo superintendent Reg Bloom couldn't contain his enthusiasm as he shared, 'We want visitors to be part of this special moment by suggesting a name for our little one. However, we'll have to wait until Mum allows us keepers close enough to solve the gender mystery. ' Captured in black and white perfection by Mirrorpix on March 16th, 1970, this photograph immortalizes an extraordinary milestone for Flamingo Park Zoo. This precious foal is not just any zebra; it is their very first successful breeding achievement in captivity. The image showcases the unique beauty of these majestic creatures with their striking stripes and equine grace. It serves as a reminder of how zoos play an essential role in conservation efforts while providing us all with opportunities to witness nature's wonders up close. Let us celebrate this joyous occasion together and eagerly await news of both the chosen name and whether our delightful new arrival will be revealed as a handsome stallion or an elegant mare.
