EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a heartwarming moment at London Zoo in 1971. Four adorable lion cubs, born to proud parents Kim and Singh on June 10th, are meeting visitors for the very first time on the lush green lawn. The cubs, consisting of one male named Leon and three females named Leonie, Lottie, and Liza, have been residing with their doting mother Kim in a cozy den within the Lion House. Kim is an exceptional mother who has previously raised multiple litters of cubs. This particular litter marks her fifth and includes her 17th to 20th offspring. Her nurturing nature shines through as she introduces her precious babies to the world. The story behind this enchanting image dates back to November 1960 when Kim arrived at the zoo as a four-month-old cub. A year later, Singh joined her at two years old. Since then, they have become beloved residents of London Zoo. As we gaze upon this photograph by George Greenwell from Memory Lane Prints, we can't help but be captivated by the innocence and beauty of these lion cubs embarking on their journey into adulthood under the watchful eyes of their devoted mother. It serves as a timeless reminder of our connection with wildlife and our responsibility to protect these magnificent creatures for generations to come.
