When East meets West... depicting a scene from a famous Indian legend is distinguished artist Prof Pammi Lall and Vayu Naidu, of Leeds Universitys Workshop Theatre. They are pictured at the Easthorpe Gallery, Mirfield, with pupils from Roberttown Junior and Infant School. Prof. Lall, dean of the faculty of fine art at Benares Hindu University in India, is a guest of Kirklees education department as an artist in residence this month and is based at the Easthorpe Gallery this week. He is seen working on a picture which represents one of the rare moments of tranquillity enjoyed by leading figures in the Ramayana, an ancient Hindu epic.
