Opening night party at the Old Barn for Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. Written by Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice.
In February 1973, theatre producer Michael White and impresario Robert Stigwood mounted the Young Vic production at the Albery Theatre in the West End, where it ran for 243 performances
The story is based on the " coat of many colours" story of Joseph from the Bibles Book of Genesis. This was the first Lloyd Webber and Rice musical to be performed publicly (the first, The Likes of Us, written in 1965, was not performed until 2005).

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print captures a momentous occasion in the world of theatre. From left to right, we see two legendary figures, Robert Stigwood and Andrew Lloyd Webber, at the opening night party for Joseph and The Amazing Technicolour Dreamcoat. This iconic musical was written by Lloyd Webber himself, in collaboration with Tim Rice. In February 1973, Michael White and Robert Stigwood brought this Young Vic production to the prestigious Albery Theatre in London's West End. It went on to mesmerize audiences for an impressive 243 performances. The story of Joseph is inspired by the "coat of many colours" tale from the Book of Genesis in the Bible. Notably, this was Lloyd Webber and Rice's first publicly performed musical; their earlier work, The Likes of Us (1965), wouldn't grace the stage until 2005. Taken on February 18th, 1973, this picture showcases a significant moment that would go down in theatrical history. With its vibrant colors and dynamic personalities captured within it, this image transports us back to a time when dreams were woven into technicolor threads upon a stage adorned with talent and creativity.
