Slade star Dave Hill tried not to "bring the house down"

Slade star Dave Hill tried not to " bring the house down" when he made a return visit after 20 years to his old workplace. He was opening two show houses for a 67 building development at Heathcroft, Wolverhampton for Tarmac Houses (Midlands). He was a trainee buyer for Tarmac at the age of 18, before shooting to stardom. Children from farandole Junior School were on hand to see Dave cut the ribbon - they have been following the development and history of the site as a school project. 12th June 1985

EDITORS COMMENTS
In this print from Memory Lane Prints, we see Slade star Dave Hill returning to his old workplace after 20 years. The iconic musician tried not to "bring the house down" as he made a special appearance at Heathcroft in Wolverhampton. This significant event marked the opening of two show houses for a remarkable 67 building development by Tarmac Houses (Midlands). Before skyrocketing to fame, Dave Hill was once a trainee buyer for Tarmac at the tender age of 18. Now, he stood proudly amidst the architecture and estate that had shaped his early career. As he cut the ribbon with precision and grace, children from Farandole Junior School eagerly watched on. These young minds had been following every step of this development as part of their school project, delving into its history and significance. Their presence added an extra layer of excitement and anticipation to this momentous occasion. The year was 1985, firmly placing us in the vibrant era of the 1980s. This photograph captures not only a music legend but also showcases how different facets of society intertwine - music intersecting with architecture and education. This print is truly a testament to both personal growth and community involvement. It serves as a reminder that even those who reach great heights never forget where they started from or those who supported them along their journey.
