Britian's first astronaut Helen Sharman, aged 27, poses at a press conference in Central London after being selected from over 13, 000 applicants to zoom into orbit in 10 weeks time as part of the £5 million Anglo-Soviet Juno mission, accompanied by two Russian crewmen.
She is the first Western European woman in space as well as the first woman to visit the Mir space station in May 1991.

Gwyn sustained a compression of the spinal cord when he was trapped at the base of a ruck after 13 minutes of the top-of-the-table clash at Arms Park.
