The 1988 FA Cup Final was the 107th final of the FA Cup.
Liverpool were the club side of the 1980s and were newly crowned league champions going into this final.
Wimbledon were the underdogs.
Wimbledon won the contest 1 - 0 with a Laurie Sanchez goal in the 37th minute and a penalty save from Wimbledon goalkeeper and captain Dave Beasant, saving the spot kick taken by Liverpools John Aldridge. This would be the first penalty miss in a cup final.
