It measures 38 mm in diameter and weighs around 28 grams

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a remarkable piece of history, the Queen Victoria Jubilee Head Silver Crown from England. The obverse side of this silver crown exhibits Queen Victoria's portrait, specially commissioned by her in 1870. Adorned with the small diamond crown, she gazes leftward with elegance and grace. Flanking the portrait are the inscriptions "VICTORIA D : G : BRITT : REG : F : D" while Joseph Edgar Boehm's initials, J. E. B. , can be found on the queen's shoulder. On the reverse side of this exquisite coin, Benedetto Pistrucci's St George is depicted on horseback valiantly slaying a fearsome dragon. Alongside this magnificent scene are B. P. 's initials and the year 1890. This jubilee head design was exclusively used for silver and gold coins between 1887 and 1893 to commemorate Queen Victoria's golden jubilee after ruling for half a century. Dating back over a thousand years, royal portraits have graced English coins as symbols of power and authority. The British Crown came into circulation in 1707 following the Union of England and Scotland as a replacement for both countries' previous currencies. Valued at five shillings, it measures approximately 38 mm in diameter and weighs around 28 grams. Preserved within Cornwall's esteemed Royal Cornwall Museum collection, this numismatic treasure stands as an emblematic representation of British heritage. Its intricate details serve as a testament to craftsmanship that has endured through generations.
