EDITORS COMMENTS
Step back in time to the enchanting world of Tregothnan House, captured in this print from April 20th, 1909. The grand estate, nestled in the picturesque village of St Michael Penkivel, Cornwall, has been a cherished haven for the esteemed Boscawen family since an impressive lineage dating back to 1334. In this delightful snapshot, we witness a vibrant garden party or open day at Tregothnan. A lively band fills the air with melodies that captivate all who listen. Surrounding them are elegantly dressed individuals engrossed in conversation and merriment. It is a scene brimming with joy and camaraderie. Tregothnan's rich history is beautifully showcased through its magnificent architecture. Rebuilt by Edward Boscawen (1787-1841), fourth Viscount and First Earl of Falmouth, it stands proudly near the remnants of its predecessor. The house exudes timeless elegance and serves as a testament to generations past. However, it is within Tregothnan's sprawling historic gardens where true wonders await visitors today. Spanning vast acres of Cornish land, these meticulously curated grounds hold the title for Cornwall's largest historic garden—a treasure trove of natural beauty waiting to be explored. While access to this horticultural paradise remains limited throughout most of the year, one weekend annually opens its gates wide for public enjoyment—an occasion eagerly anticipated by locals and travelers alike.
