The cylin- drical spacecraft is 1.84 metres in diameter, 1.6 metres tall & weighs 960 kilograms. It carries 10 experimental packages, including the Halley Multi- colour Camera (HMC) which is expected to return the first full-colour close-up pictures of the comet to Earth. Giotto was launched from Kourou, French Guiana, on July 2, 1985
