Artwork of a Tyrannosaurus seen at night

Artwork of a dinosaur, Tyrannosaurus, silhouetted against the Moon. Dinosaurs were reptiles that dominated life on land for 140 million years throughout the Mesozoic era: from the late Triassic period until the end of the Cretaceous period 64 million years ago. Over 800 species are known which are divided into two groups: the reptile-hipped and the bird-hipped dinosaurs. The Tyrannosaurus species belongs to the first group and includes the largest carnivorous, two-legged dinosaurs which reached 12m in length. Dinosaurs became suddenly extinct probably due to strong climatic changes and the competition from mammals in the changing environment

EDITORS COMMENTS
This print showcases a mesmerizing artwork of a Tyrannosaurus, set against the backdrop of a moonlit night. The silhouette of this mighty dinosaur against the Moon evokes a sense of awe and wonder, transporting us back to an era when these reptilian giants roamed the Earth. Dinosaurs reigned supreme for an astonishing 140 million years during the Mesozoic era, spanning from the late Triassic period until their sudden extinction at the end of the Cretaceous period, approximately 64 million years ago. With over 800 known species divided into two groups - reptile-hipped and bird-hipped dinosaurs - they were truly diverse in form and function. The featured Tyrannosaurus belongs to the first group and represents one of the largest carnivorous, bipedal dinosaurs that ever existed. These formidable creatures could reach lengths up to 12 meters, instilling both fear and fascination in those who encounter their remains today. While theories surrounding their extinction persist, it is believed that strong climatic changes coupled with increased competition from mammals played significant roles in their demise. Nevertheless, these ancient beings continue to captivate our imagination through art like this stunning piece. This remarkable photograph by Science Photo Library reminds us of our planet's rich history and serves as a testament to humanity's ongoing fascination with these magnificent creatures from our distant past.
