Friedrich Wohler (1800-1882), German chemist. Wohler studied at Heidelberg and then in Stockholm, Sweden. He then worked in Berlin and Kassel, becoming professor in chemistry at the University of Gottingen. Wohler achieved the first synthesis of urea in 1828.
