This print from Science Photo Library showcases an artist's impression of two male Homo heidelbergensis hominids, who roamed the Earth between 600,000 and 250,000 years ago during the Pleistocene era. Discovered in Heidelberg, Germany in 1907, these ancient beings left a remarkable legacy that has been further unraveled through remains found in France and Greece. Standing at an impressive average height of six feet, Homo heidelbergensis possessed both physical stature and intellectual prowess.
