This print captures the remarkable Marina Popovich, a true pioneer in aviation history. In this image taken in 1966, Marina is seen climbing into a MiG-21 jet fighter, showcasing her fearless spirit and determination. Born in 1931, Marina Popovich became one of the greatest female pilots of all time. She shattered barriers and set an astonishing 107 world records in aviation across more than 40 different types of aircraft. With over 5,600 flying hours logged, she left an indelible mark on the field. In 1964, Marina achieved another groundbreaking feat by becoming the first woman to break the sound barrier. It was aboard a MiG-21 that she accomplished this incredible milestone. Her achievements were not limited to aviation alone; she married cosmonaut Pavel Popovich and together they had two daughters before eventually divorcing. Marina's passion for flight extended beyond conventional boundaries as she also advocated for UFO sightings. This outspoken aviator authored several books on unidentified flying objects (UFOs) and their existence. The low angle shot adds drama to this iconic moment frozen in time during the mid-20th century Soviet Union era. The monochrome aesthetic further enhances its historical significance.
