Orlan spacesuit display

Orlan spacesuit display. This is a Soviet EVA (extravehicular activity) spacesuit, with its own air supply, used for space walks outside a spacecraft or space station. It is semi-rigid, with a solid torso and helmet, but flexible arms and legs. The CCCP patch (the Cyrillic for USSR) is at right. Mission patches are at left. A set of control switches and mechanisms are seen on the outside of the spacesuit. Inside the helmet are microphones for communications with other astronauts. This type of Orlan spacesuit dates from the early 1990s and was used on the Soviet/Russian Mir space station. The Orlan model used on Mir was the Orlan-DMA
