Urinary system, artwork C013 / 4669

Urinary system. Computer artwork showing the kidneys (top), the main organs of the urinary system. The kidneys are located in the upper abdomen. The function of the kidneys is to filter waste products such as urea from the blood to form urine. The urine drains to the bladder (bottom) through the ureters (tubes running downwards). The urine leaves the bladder through the urethra. On top of each kidney is an adrenal gland (orange). This gland produces adrenaline, along other hormones. Adrenaline is produced as part of the flight-or-fight response. This is a male urinary system, with the prostate gland below the bladder. EDITORS COMMENTS

This print showcases the intricate details of the urinary system, specifically highlighting the kidneys as the main organs. Positioned in the upper abdomen, these vital filters play a crucial role in removing waste products like urea from our blood to form urine. The downward-running tubes known as ureters transport this urine to its final destination - the bladder, depicted at the bottom of this artwork. The male urinary system is portrayed here, with an emphasis on anatomical accuracy. Just above each kidney lies an adrenal gland, represented by vibrant orange hues. These glands are responsible for producing adrenaline and other hormones that contribute to our body's flight-or-fight response. Immersing ourselves in this visual representation allows us to appreciate how seamlessly our organs work together within our bodies. From renal function to hormone production, every aspect of this excretory and endocrine system is meticulously illustrated. This thought-provoking artwork not only serves as a testament to human biology but also acts as a reminder of how remarkable and complex our bodies truly are. It captures both scientific precision and artistic beauty while shedding light on various fields such as nephrology, urology, and endocrinology.
