William Herschel, German-English astronomer

He became interested in astronomer & being unable to afford a telescope he set about grinding his own lenses & making telescopes. His sister Caroline aided him in his work & became the first important woman astronomer. In 1781 Herschel discovered Uranus, the first siting of a new planet in historic times. Herschel died in 1822
