Space Shuttle Collection

The Space Shuttle was a reusable spacecraft system developed by NASA in the 1970s. It was the first spacecraft to be used for multiple missions, and it revolutionized space exploration. The Space Shuttle consisted of an orbiter, two solid rocket boosters, and an external fuel tank. It could carry up to seven astronauts and payloads of up to 24 tons into low Earth orbit. During its 30-year history, the Space Shuttle flew 135 missions and spent more than 300 days in space. It carried out a variety of tasks including launching satellites, conducting scientific experiments, performing repairs on orbiting satellites, and constructing the International Space Station (ISS). The Space Shuttle program ended in 2011 with its final mission being STS-135 aboard Atlantis. The legacy of the program lives on through its contributions to science and technology that have enabled us to explore further into space than ever before.
