EDITORS COMMENTS
In this photograph taken in London during the autumn season, we witness a timeless tradition of the Coster royal families. Mr H G Tabram, known as the original Pearly King of London from Holborn, is seen alongside his daughter Florence as they meticulously repair their pearly suits after a busy summer season. Pearly suits are adorned with an astonishing number of buttons ranging from 20,000 to 50,000. Each member of the Tabram family proudly wears an outfit that signifies their rank within this esteemed community. Not only does Mr Tabram skillfully maintain his own regalia but he also lends his expertise to repairing the suits worn by other Coaster Kings. Having held this prestigious title since 1899, following in his father's footsteps who was a Pearly King back in 1870, Mr Tabram's dedication and commitment to preserving this unique cultural heritage is truly commendable. The culmination of their hard work and passion for their craft has even earned them an audience before members of the Royal Family. As thousands of buttons lay scattered on the table before them, it serves as a visual testament to their unwavering devotion towards upholding these cherished traditions. This remarkable snapshot captures not just a moment frozen in time but also reflects upon the rich history and vibrant culture that continues to thrive within London's Pearly Kingdoms.
