Chislehurst, Kent: Mr J H Easden of Royal Parade, Chislehurst, puts the finishing

Chislehurst, Kent: Mr J H Easden of Royal Parade, Chislehurst, puts the finishing touches to the casket which will contain the traditional glove the Queen will use at the Coronation. He was commissioned by the Worshipful Company of Glovers, of London, who have been granted by the Earl marshal the privilege of providing the Coronation glove. The Queen has appointed Lord Woolton, Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, to make the presentation at Westminster Abbey.
Oak from the timbers of Nelsons flagship " Victory" has been used in the making, and the casket is lined with purple velvet from which the Coronation robe is made. On the lid in silver are the Royal Cypher, the Arms of Worksop Priory and the Worshipful Company of Glovers, and an inscription plate, mounted on panels of Kentish cherry-wood. The glove, for the right hand, will be of white kid lined with silk.

EDITORS COMMENTS

In this photo print, we witness Mr J H Easden of Royal Parade, Chislehurst, meticulously adding the final touches to a casket that will hold the traditional glove to be used by the Queen during her Coronation. Commissioned by the esteemed Worshipful Company of Glovers in London, who have been granted the privilege of providing this significant item for the ceremony, Mr Easden's craftsmanship is truly remarkable. The casket itself is a work of art, constructed using oak from Nelson's flagship "Victory" and lined with exquisite purple velvet sourced from which the Coronation robe is made. Adorning its lid are silver engravings depicting the Royal Cypher, Worksop Priory Arms, and insignia representing both the Worshipful Company of Glovers and an inscription plate mounted on panels crafted from Kentish cherry-wood. Set to take place at Westminster Abbey, Lord Woolton has been appointed by Her Majesty as Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster to present this extraordinary gift. The glove itself will be fashioned out of white kid leather delicately lined with silk. This photograph captures not only Mr Easden's intense concentration but also showcases his immense talent in creating such a precious piece for one of history's most momentous events.
