The Grand Nationals most dramatic moments as the Queen Mothers horse Devon Loch
The Grand Nationals most dramatic moments as the Queen Mothers horse Devon Loch, ahead of the field, collapses (top, left to right), and then struggles to its feet (bottom, left to right), only 50 yards from the post. The crowd were cheering a royal victory when the horse, ridden by Dick Francis, either stumbled or collapsed exhausted. Victory went to ESB who had been lying second behind Devon Loch. Gentle Moya was second and Royal Tan third. The Queen, the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret saw the race.
