Llamas are members of the camelid family, which also includes alpacas, guanacos, and vicunas, and are native to South America and have been domesticated for thousands of years and can used as pack animals and for their wool, which is highly valued in the textile industry and can also be trained to pull carts or serve as guard animals. Llamas typically weigh between 250-450 pounds and stand up to 5 feet tall at the shoulder.
