European Perch Collection

European Perch are a freshwater fish native to Europe and Asia. They have an elongated body with a greenish-brown back and silvery sides and can grow up to 45 cm in length, and weigh up to 1 kg. European Perch feed on small invertebrates, crustaceans, insects, mollusks, and other fish, and are found in lakes, ponds, rivers and streams throughout their range. European perch spawn from April to June in shallow water near the shoreline or over vegetation beds. The eggs hatch within two weeks after spawning and the young remain close to shore until they reach maturity at two years of age and can an important species for recreational anglers due to their fighting ability when hooked as well as their delicious taste when cooked fresh from the water.
