Mandrill Framed Print Collection

Mandrill is a large primate species found in the rainforests of central and western Africa, and are the world's largest monkey, with males weighing up to 35 kg (77 lb). Mandrills have distinctive colorful faces with blue and red skin on their muzzle, cheeks, and chin. Their fur is olive-green or yellowish-gray on their back and limbs, while their underside is white or yellowish. They have long tails that can be used for balance when they climb trees, and are omnivores that feed mainly on fruits, nuts, insects, small mammals, reptiles and birds. They live in large groups of up to 200 individuals led by a dominant male known as a "silverback". These primates communicate through vocalizations such as barks and screams as well as facial expressions like baring teeth or wrinkling noses, and are threatened by habitat destruction due to logging activities and hunting for bushmeat. Conservation efforts such as protected areas have been established in some parts of Africa to help protect this species from extinction.
