Adolph von Menzel Collection

Adolph von Menzel (1815-1905) was a German painter and printmaker who is considered one of the most important representatives of Realism in 19th century German art. He was born in Breslau, Prussia (now Wrocław, Poland). His works are characterized by an attention to detail, meticulous observation of nature, and a focus on everyday life. He painted historical scenes such as Frederick the Great at Sanssouci (1852), as well as genre scenes such as The Balcony Room (1845).
